Finals matches are fast approaching the Dimboola & District Tennis Association with teams showing excellent sportsmanship and tennis skills to maintain their finals positions.
Round 12 started on Friday night with Dimboola being host to Jeparit. The Mixed was won by Dimboola with 5 sets, 38 games to Jeparit 1 set, 22 games. The Dimboola Men were strong winning 8 sets, 57 games to Jeparit 1 set, 33 games. The Dimboola Women also very strong with 9 sets, 63 games to Jeparit 0 sets, 26 games. The overall score was Dimboola with 5 match points, 22 sets, 158 games to Jeparit 0 match points, 2 sets, 81 games.
The next Friday night match, Rainbow were host to Antwerp. Antwerp narrowly won the Mixed with 4 sets, 36 games to Rainbow 2 sets, 32 games. The Antwerp Men were far too strong and won 8 sets, 59 games to Rainbow 1 set, 31 games. However, the Rainbow Women showed their grit on the court and won with 5 sets, 47 games to Antwerp 4 sets, 39 games. The overall score was Antwerp with 4 match points, 16 sets, 134 games to Rainbow, 1 match point, 8 sets, 110 games.
On Saturday, Hopetoun were host to Arkona. The Hopetoun Mixed won 2 sets, 25 games to Arkona 2 sets, 20 games. The Hopetoun Men were stronger winning 6 sets, 42 games to Arkona 0 sets, 23 games. The Hopetoun Women also played a very strong match winning theirs 3 sets, 34 games to Arkona 3 sets, 31 games. The overall score was Hopetoun with 5 match points, 11 sets, 101 games to Arkona 0 match points, 5 sets, 84 games.
Also on Saturday, Brim caused the upset of the round when they inflicted ladder leader Warrack’s first loss of the season.
Brim won their Mixed match 3 sets, 25 games to Warrack 1 set, 9 games. The Brim Men had a strong win with 5 sets, 39 games to Warrack 1 set, 24 games. It was a tie for the Women with 3 sets, 30 games to both teams. The overall score was Brim with 4.5 match points, 11 sets, 94 games to Warrack 0.5 match points, 5 sets, 63 games.
There are two more rounds before the start of the semi-finals. The 1st and 2nd semi-finals will be held on Saturday 4th March. The Grand Final will be held on Saturday 18th March 2023. Best of luck to all teams.
