Rainbow Scouts celebrate 100 years

Rainbow Scout Group are celebrating the fantastic milestone of 100 years on June 4 and we invite everyone to be a part of it.
On June 1 1923, the adventure started in Rainbow with the formation of 1st Rainbow Scout Troop, with Scout Master William Tone-Holmes and 14 Scouts.
A second troop later formed called St Paul’s Rainbow Scout Troop.
Although the Scout Group has gone into recession several times, it has provided generations with life skills and adventures that they may not have had otherwise.
Recently we had Marg Mellington, Peter Solly, Danny Gould and Parker Gould visit and share their memories.
For each of them it was the camps and big events like Jamborees that still got them excited.
The June 4 celebration will start with a church service at the Anglican Church at 9.30am, followed by formalities at the Rainbow Scout Hall, and finishing with a BBQ lunch at 1pm.
This will be the perfect chance to share stories and photos and other memorabilia.
We are encouraging past members to wear their Scarfs and, if you are still a member, please wear your uniform.
Families and the community are welcome to join us and share in the stories.
