Rainbow Lions Club awards Citizen of the Year
At this years Australia Day Celebrations, Adrian Bennett was named as Rainbow Lions Club Citizen of the Year for 2025.
Since his arrival in Rainbow 22 years ago, he has become a very involved community member of the town.
Adrian joined the CFA in 2003.
Since then he has held most positions in the brigade, including secretary, treasurer and captain.
He was a committee member and treasurer of the B&S ball.
Adrian has been a member of Rainbow Lions Club for more than 20 years and served as secretary for four years.
He was on Rainbow Advisory Committee/Rainbow Town Committee, where he served as secretary for three years and then treasurer for 15 years.
He has been a committee member of Rainbow Scouts.
Adrian has been a committee member of the Rainbow Rises group since its inception and been treasurer ever since.
Another major role Adrian has had in the community is co-ordinating the annual Good Friday Appeal collection in Rainbow.
This has been noted by not only the local community but also the Royal Children’s Hospital committee.
There are probably other things Adrian has done in the community that go un-noticed and without recognition.
Adrian is a very popular and well-deserved recipient of this award.
The Lions Club of Rainbow congratulates Adrian on this award and Allira Roberts on being named Hindmarsh Shire Citizen of the Year.
The club thanks district governor of Scouts, Claire Roll, for her very informative address as the guest speaker on her recent Scout Jamboree trip to Maryborough, Queensland, where three leaders and two Scouts from Rainbow, along with 13,000 others, attended.
The community of Rainbow is indebted to the continued volunteer work carried out by Allira, Claire and Adrian.
