Putting tap water to the test
In terms of flavour, how does the Wimmera Mallee's drinking water stack up?
This is the question that's on the lips of Water Industry Operations Association of Australia (WIOA) as the organisation enters the final phase of its annual search for the state's top tap tipple.
Water suppliers throughout Victoia – including GWMWater – have been invited to submit samples of tap water ahead of WIOA's annual conference next month.
Judging will take place and the winner will be announced at the event in Bendigo on April 2.
The successful supplier will earn year-long bragging rights and a spot in the national showdown, competing for the Australian title in November.
The overall champion of IXOM 2025 Best Tasting Tap Water in Australia will have the chance to
represent Australia at the annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition in West
Virginia, United States.
To date, Mildura is the only centre in western Victoria to have held the honour, having been crowned tap-water champ in 2020.
