Pomonal Estate open for business again after bushfire threat forced closure
Pomonal Estate and Barney's Bar and Bistro are back in business.
The popular winery, microbrewery and cider house Pomonal Estate has reopened for business following forced closures throughout the Grampians region due to the recent bushfire emergency.
The containment of the fire that burnt over 70,000 hectares of land over Christmas has meant many businesses in the affected towns are starting to return to business after missing a usual tourism peak period.
Now reopening, Pomonal Estate is keen to receive visitors eager to experience the winery's cellar door, renowned menu, and new villa accommodation.
"Barney's [Bar and Bistro], Pomonal Estate, and Pomonal's other local businesses are indispensable to the life and economy of our community," says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor Jo Armstrong.
"They've done wonderful work taking care of volunteers, alongside demonstrating their own personal tenacity and passion for this region. Visiting Pomonal and its businesses is the best possible way of celebrating the township's reopening."
Barney's Bar and Bistro, which kept locals, volunteers and CFA members fed during the fire emergency, has also reopened.
