BLACKHEATH-Dimboola B Grade has just missed out on Horsham Cricket Association finals action after the final round of competition was played on Saturday.
Despite a batting master class from Polack brothers Daniel and Sam, the Bulls missed by two points after Laharum pulled off an upset win over ladder leader Lubeck-Murtoa to maintain its fourth placing and deny the Bulls the chance of contesting finals.
With a superior percentage, the Bulls were banking on a Lubeck-Murtoa win which would elevate them into fourth place as they Bulls held up their end of the bargain when they dominated their clash against Bullants.
On their home turf, the Bulls claimed a decisive 150-run win over the Bullants with the Polack boys dominating with the bat to help post a commanding total for their opponent to chase.
Coming together after the loss of two early wickets, Sam and Daniel dominated the bowling attack to combine for a 147-run stand for the third wicket.
Both were aggressive with Sam clipping a top score of 82 off 111 balls that included 10 boundaries, while Daniel posted 70 off 77 balls with eight boundaries.
The pair placed their team in a powerful position at 3-163 which provided the catalyst for the team to post an impressive 7-236 at the end of their 40 overs.
Contributions from Brenden Marrs, an unbeaten 27 off 15 balls, and Luke Hutchinson, 15 off 11, maintained the scoring spree to the final ball.
In reply, the Bullants found themselves in early trouble at 2-27 before John Heard, 16, and Connor O’Beirne, 30, teamed to steady the ship at 3-66 but the Bulls were on the attack and took complete control of the remainder of the run chase.
Through Daniel Collins and Sam Polack, the pair teamed to claim seven wickets with Collins producing the best figures of 4-14 off six overs, while Polack topped a big day to claim 3-5 off 5.5 overs.
The Bulls claimed the last seven Bullants wickets for 20 runs to leave their opponents well off the pace, bowled out for 86 in 35.5 overs.
In C Grade, the Bulls had a day to forget when they were dominated by second-placed Quantong in their final outing for the season.
The Bulls were bowled out for just 39 in 17.5 overs with only skipper Nathan Schorback posting a double-figure score of 11 as the Quantong bowling attack feasted on the batting line-up.
Quantong opening paceman Stuart Jose produced the spell of the day to claim 5-3 off six overs.
In reply, Quantong opener Nick Caris made light work of the required target with a quickfire 31 off 29 balls as Quantong made 1-40 off nine overs to claim victory.
The Bulls used nine individual bowlers where Isobelle Schorback claimed 1-2 off her one over.
