ROUND eight of junior table tennis on Wednesday team Pluto was merciless in their defeat of team Mars 10 sets to two, 21 games to six, 274 points to 199.
Pluto’s Zeke won over Mars’ Butla 11-6, 11-9, then Mars’ Colby won the next set over Pluto’s Shelta putting Mars on the board.
The next five sets went to team Pluto, Ivy def Eedie 11-6, 11-9; Hudson won over Oaklee 11-4, 11-4; Zeke, Shelta def Butla, Colby 11-9, 11-2; Ivy, Hudson def Eedie, Oaklee 10-12, 11-5, 11-9.
Butla then scored Mars' second set for the night with a win over Shelta 11-7, 11-7. Team Pluto won the last five sets, Zeke d Colby 11-5, 11-6; Hudson def Eedie 11-8, 11-8; Ivy def Oaklee 11-0, 11-3; Zeke, Ivy def Butla, Eedie 11-7, 11-9 and Shelta, Hudson won over Colby, Oaklee 6-11, 11-8, 11-9.
In the second match of the night Jupiter scored a narrow victory over Saturn five sets to four, 10 games to 11, 216 points to 193.
Josh began for Saturn with a win over Jupiter’s Fionn 14-12, 11-8, then Jupiter’s Jagger def Saturn’s Zac 11-8, 11-9. Saturn’s Zoe won over Jupiter sub Owen 12-10, 11-9, Jupitor’s Sully def Saturn’s Zac 11-4, 10-12, 11-4.
Saturn’s Zoe, sub Owen def Jupiter’s Jagger, Sully 12-10. 11-9. Jupiter retaliated when Fionn def Zac 11-3, 11-3, then Josh won over Jagger 12-10, 12-10 to give Saturn the lead four sets to three, but Jupitor won the last two sets to give them the match.
Sully def Zoe 11-7, 7-11, 12-10 and Fionn, Sully def Josh, Zoe 11-9, 11-13, 11-5.
Round the table elimination winners were Oaklee, Ivy with Butla runner-up both times.
Pluto tops the ladder after round eight with 28 points, Jupitor 16, Saturn 12, Mars 8.
