Pimpinio look for four straight against Saints

Pimpinio will be favourites in men’s senior football this Saturday when they host Edenhope Apsley in round 12 of the Horsham District Football Netball League.
The Tigers enter the clash with three consecutive wins under their belt and will hope to make it four as they look to strengthen their quest for finals football.
The Tigers’ most recent victory was a hard-fought 88-80 clash against Taylors Lake, which lifted them to third on the ladder with a 8-3 record.
But Edenhope Apsley are coming off one of their better performances of the year, a 87-51 loss to a top-five Swifts team, spurred by a strong opening quarter.
The Saints will be hoping for an improved effort from when the two sides met in round one, which saw Pimpinio claim a 139-41 victory.
Guy Smith, coach of Pimpinio, is looking for a better full-game effort from the side.
“We’re desperate for that four-quarter effort because the last couple weeks, we’ve only been playing two quarters,” Smith said.
Asked about the side’s slower starts in recent weeks, Smith said he hoped it was something the team could remedy this week.
“It's starting to into our game a little bit, which I'm a bit concerned about,” Smith said.
“We sort of did the same the week before too – we were a bit complacent.”
Smith acknowledges that the side needs to lift looking forward to finals time but credits the team for adapting to constant changes and still producing results.
“I’ve got to commend the whole team because for the last two months the side has been thrown around a lot in regard to positional changes and experimental things we have been trying,” Smith said.
“I’m thankful they’ve responded to it.
“The best thing about it is the players are learning different roles, and it means later on in the year or in finals we have stuff to throw around.”
