Pimpinio footballers focused on another season of improvement under Smith
The Pimpinio football side was lacking a few key position-style players last season, so that's been their focus in recruitment for 2025.
The senior side finished fifth last season, defeated in the semi by Noradjuha Quantong.
"We needed those key players to go that next level, so that is what we have recognised going into this season, and that is what we have done," coach Guy Smith said.
"We have the key personnel we needed."
Among the recruits are Connor O'Dwyer (forward/midfielder), Cullen Williams (key forward/midfelder), Matt Healy (ruck) and Tom O'Dwyer - (centre half forward).
They will be joined by Kyle Dumesny from Horsham and Tom Arthur from Rupanyup.
The coach said while every coach should be coaching to claim the premiership, Smith said his aim is to do better than last year.
"We want to go as deep as we possibly can into finals," he added.
"During preseason, we have had to restructure a bit differently because we have many new faces, so while we are sticking with our game plan and structures, we have had to do a bit more education across the board for our new recruits."
As for who he hopes will have a big season this year: "everyone," he laughed.
"But I am looking forward to seeing some of the blokes that are younger step up.
"Tom Baker and Tyler Filcock, both in their second year of football in seniors now, I'm hoping they can step up.
"The experienced, older guys know what they are doing, but it's time for the younger ones to step up."
