Perfect weather for Warrack Show
There was no repeat of last year's downpour at the Warracknabeal Show on Thursday, with organisers describing it as "perfect show weather".
Warracknabeal A&P Society secretary Fred Ackland said close to 1500 people attended the Showgrounds.
"Around 400 family tickets were sold," he said.
Teenagers lined up all day for amusement rides, with younger children also having a great time on the small ferris wheel and teacup ride.
Committee member Sharlene McGinniss said the day turned out "amazing".
"It was very well run and put together," she said.
"It was just a very magical day weather-wise."
Billabong Ranch operated camel rides on the racecourse and handlers were kept busy throughout the day.
"He was still going at 5.30pm," Ms McGinniss said.
"We were worried about the location he was in but it was very well supported."
One of the biggest crowd-pullers was the mechanical bucking bull competition, sponsored by Jonasson's Kitchen Solutions.
"It was a great competition between teenage boys," Ms McGinniss said.
Cash prizes were up for grabs with one adult winner receiving $100 and male and female teenagers each receiving $50.
"It was a bit of a hit," she said.
Level Up Gaming brought virtual reality headsets and were another hit with teenagers, while Millie Carter Face Painting and Balloon Antics catered for the younger set.
Emmett's Grand Parade saw the community gather along the fence line of the reserve to watch as farm machinery, vintage vehicles and emergency services pass by.
A wide variety of foods was on offer and attendees did not go hungry with vendors such as The Great Western BBQ Shack, Southern Hotdogs, Country Baked Potatoes and more available to everyone.
The Warracknabeal Lions Club also cooked up a storm as members manned the barbecue.
Ms McGinniss said the day wouldn't have been possible without volunteers.
"Volunteers are the backbone of the show," she said.
"There's so much work that goes into it during the lead-up."
Warracknabeal A&P Society is currently on the look-out for new committee members, eager to help with the next show. Interested people are encouraged to chat with current members.
