Panthers score convincing win
Leigh Funcke's four wickets have helped guide Rup/Minyip Panthers to a five-wicket win over the Horsham Saints at Rupanyup Recreation Reserve in the B-Grade competition in the Horsham Cricket Association.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Horsham Saints innings got off to a bad start, with Wilson Mitchell dismissing Sarmad Saif and Brody Devlin early to have them 2/20.
From there, tight bowling from the Panthers, led by Funcke, troubled the Saints, who were bowled out for 88 in the 29th over.
Funcke took 4/9 off five overs, with Mitchell finishing with 2/21(5) and Scott McCurdy with an impressive 2/0 off his one over.
Alan Dube was the Saints top scorer with 15. Les Crute and Sarmaid Saif both scored ten apiece.
With a low total to chase, Hugh Weidemann and Jake Leith batted patiently and managed a 52-run opening stand before Saif took the wicket of Leith for 24.
Weidemann was the star with the bat for the Panthers, finishing with an unbeaten 36 as they chased the total down at the end of the 32nd over, scoring 5/89.
Brody Devlin was the pick of the bowlers for the Saints, taking 1/1 off three overs.
Tigers score a convincing win over the Eagles
At Dimboola Road Oval, the Tigers defeated BrimKSH by six wickets.
The Eagles won the toss and elected to bat, and Ethan Schilling and Glenn Pearse were on fire with a 57-run opening stand.
Pearse fell for 31 off Dale Dridan's bowling, and when Ethan Schilling fell for 27 a couple of overs later, the Eagles were suddenly 2/65.
Jack Hadley (17), Dale Stephan (12) and Harrison Williams (10) all provided resistance, but the Tigers bowled the Eagles out for 113 at the end of the 39th over.
Prabath Bandara took 2/18 off eight overs for the Tigers.
In reply, the Tigers scored 4/128 off 26 overs, led by Scott Marks with 38. Bandara also chipped in with 20 and Janith Herath with 17.
Aiden Ciemcioch was the pick of the bowlers for the Eagles, finishing with figures of 2/19 (4).
