Panthers back on the winners list
Rupanyup has broken a three-game losing streak to defeat Kalkee by 38 points at Rupanyup Recreation Reserve in round 14 of the Horsham District Football Netball League.
In a tight first quarter, where only two goals were scored, the Panthers took a two-point lead into quarter-time.
In the second quarter, they slowly gained ground, extending the lead to eight points at halftime.
They added two goals to one in the third quarter to lead by 18 points at three-quarter-time before a four-goal final term saw them run out 11.11.77 to 6.3.39 winners.
Angus Adams, Brayden Ison, and Blake Turner all kicked two goals apiece for the Panthers. Connor Weidemann was best on the ground, with Bill Hansen, Keiran Sait, Mitchell Gleeson, Kane Timmins, and Daniel Schaper among their best.
Deacan Campbell kicked three goals for Kalkee, with Patrick Mills continuing his outstanding season, kicking a goal, and was their best player alongside Andrew Devereaux, Douglas Grining, Matt Nield, Ben Lawson, and Jakob Butcher.
Demons win fourth straight match
Laharum has secured their fourth consecutive win, defeating Kaniva Leeor by 59 points at Cameron Oval.
In a wet and windy match, the Demons had the wind in the first quarter and used it to lead by eight points at quarter-time.
A massive second quarter against the wind, with two goals to zero, opened the game up for them, and they led by 23 points at half-time.
The margin was the same at the main break before they kicked six goals in the last to win 11.6.72 to 2.1.13.
Josh Hutchinson and Robbie Miller led the scoreboard for the Demons with three goals apiece. At the same time, Pat Lattanzio was best on the ground, with Cody Richards, Daniel Easson, Brett Ervin, and Reuben Elliot among their best players.
Dylan Natt, Hamish Bennett, Jack Stimson, Lochlyn Hahne, Fraser Bothe, and Sam Vivian were the best for the Cougars.
Demons coach Shannon Argall said Lattanzio played a ripper game after being named the club's speed demon at training on Thursday night.
"Pat has just turned 20 and is starting to develop his craft. He is the hardest tackler on the side and applied pressure all day while hunting the ball," Argall said.
"It was prime conditions for him on Saturday, and his work-rate was phenomenal."
"Cody Richards has played well at full-back since he came back into the side three weeks ago from the reserves. He is easily in our best 21 and loves his football, which shows."
"He has a big body, breaks tackles, creates spoils, and is effectively a midfield recruit. It's great to see him get his rewards, and he was voted by the boys after the game as the match MVP."
Daffey's and Close's five goals lead Southern Roos to a massive win over the Saints.
At Edenhope Recreation Reserve, Harrow Balmoral thrashed Edenhope Apsley by 130 points.
The game was tight in the first quarter, with the Southern Roos kicking three goals to one to lead by 11 points at quarter-time.
They held the Saints scoreless the next two quarters and kicked ten goals to lead by 83 points at three-quarter-time.
A further eight goals to one in the last quarter saw them run out 21.19.145 to 2.3.15 winners.
Daffey's five goals have brought his tally to 13 in the last three rounds, and he is one of the in-form small forwards in the competition. Jai Thompson was best on the ground, leading from the front in the midfield with three goals, with Will Burbury, Ethan Appleton, William Plush, and Peter Staude also amongst their best.
Josh La Rocca, Bernard Kealy, Heath Keatley, Jeremy Kealy, Patrick Kealy, and Adam Hood were the Saints best players.
O'Beirne kicks six goals as the Bombers bounce back.
Six goals to Connor O'Beirne helped Noradjuha Quantong to a 73-point win over Natimuk United at the Natimuk Showgrounds.
In a strange set of circumstances, the score was the same as the Harrow Balmoral vs. Edenhope Apsley match, with the Bombers leading by 11 points at quarter-time, 3.2.20 to 1.3.9.
In even more bizarre circumstances, the Bombers held the Rams scoreless in the next two quarters, mirroring that match to lead by 39 points at three-quarter-time.
A five-goal final quarter saw the Bombers run out 12.11.83 to 1.4.10 winners.
James Hallett, Jack Vague, Jayden Besford, Dawson Cross, and Ash Lawson were the best players for the Bombers.
Cody Frizon kicked the Rams' only goal, and their best players were Callum Camerson, Jonathan Lovel, Adam Coutts, Dylan Newell, and Callum Hayes.
