Opportunity to become our next Rural Ambassador
People aged from 16 to 30 have the chance to gain a Junior Ambassador or Rural Ambassador title at this year's Warracknabeal Show in the Ambassador Award competition.
These competitions at local shows allow young people to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and community involvement while expanding their networks and gaining experience.
Entrants experience formal and informal interviews during the application process and are involved in the "behind the scenes" of show day as they assist in pavilions.
Winners will participate in the Wimmera Agricultural Show Association (WASA) regional finals and have the potential honour to of represent their community at state and national level.
Amber Nuske, winner of last year's Warracknabeal Show Junior Ambassador Award, has been involved in the show for a few years, entering exhibits and participating with Warracknabeal Town Band.
Through her involvement in the competition she experienced time as a steward, assisted with the setting up of pavilions and appreciated the unseen work many volunteers undertook.
Keen hockey player Amber represented Warracknabeal at the WASA finals in Dimboola and said she enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to meet new people.
"As I talked to other entrants I realised there is so much you can do for the local show committee and the community," Amber said.
Ambassador competitions aim to support people to engage and participate in the show, highlighting talent, creativity and ingenuity of young rural people.
It encourages entrants to be role models in their communities and rewards enthusiastic, skilful and industrious young people who are actively involved in their communities.
The competition also aims to assist all entrants through their participation to develop strong leadership and communication qualities.
