OAM recipient to share 19 story living with autism
Horsham residents have the chance to hear first-hand from a young champion of day-to-day life living with autism.
Daniel Giles, along with his dad Daryl, and sister Leash, will share his journey at a seminar next week, covering topics including diagnosis, education, employment, independent living and best outcome strategies.
Daniel is proudly autistic and works as an advocate for autistic individuals and others with diverse needs. He has been presenting his story since he was 13.
He was diagnosed with autism at two-and-a-half years old. He experiences delays in communicating verbally and needs assistance in navigating the world around him, especially sensory and socially.
Not only does he now advocate for others, he also is employed part-time as a graphic designer and does volunteer work.
Daniel was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his "Service to Disability and the Community" on the Queen's Birthday in 2017.
From Diagnosis to OAM will be held on Wednesday August 21, with sessions at 11am and 6.30pm at the Horsham Sports and Community Club.
