Nhill wary ahead of Warrack clash
Nhill might be second on the ladder in the Wimmera Football Netball League but they aren't taking this week's opposition, Warrack, who are eighth, lightly.
"They'll be hungry for that first win so we know they’ll come out hard," coach of Nhill, Jake McQueen, predicted.
"They’ve got some dangerous players and look like they're heading in the right direction so we won't take them lightly.
"I reckon it’ll come down to who wins the contest and takes their chances going forward.
"If we get that right, we’ll give ourselves every chance."
Like his coaching opposition this Saturday, leader of Warrack, Matt Walder, has seen elements of progress from his team so far this season but is hoping to see even more this week.
"But it's (progress) spattered throughout, and every game has been different a little, but there are certain times of the game where we have been good and certain times where we haven't, and we haven't really put one together for the four quarters," Walder said.
"It's there, it's just a matter of gluing it together."
Walder said Nhill would go into the game Saturday buoyed by a good performance last week.
"They were probably stunned from the previous week where they got beaten quite well by Dimboola," he said.
"It just goes to show you only have to be off your game a bit and an opponent can get hold of you.
"They are a good side, they are an emerging side, and we are expecting nothing but a cohesive and slick unit that can produce good footy.
"We will identify a couple of areas there, but at the end of the day I need to get my backyard in order with the Eagles and get the best out of what we have, and that's the trick at the moment."
For the Eagles to win, a number of players will have to stand up and deliver competitive performances.
This includes the likes of Declan Powell and Sam Hanna, who have been in the best every game this season, along with Nick Ingram and Riley Morrow, who have also had a few good matches.
The side will also need to limit the dominance of a few of the opposition's better players, including coach Jake McQueen, Daniel Batson, Darcy Honeyman and Darcy Reid.
