Nhill to face Stawell at Central Park
Fifth-placed Nhill will test their competitiveness and skill against Stawell, second, this Saturday.
Nhill have a record of 2-1 this season, while their opposition this week is 3-1.
Bolstered by the fact it will be the first proper home match for this season for Stawell, who will host the clash at Central Park, Nhill co-coach Trevor Ryan said he expected the side to be really competitive and bring a brand of footy that would be focused around contested footy at the bounce in the centre and stoppages.
"We're going to be focusing on the same," Ryan said.
Also in focus for Nhill will be the scoring abilities of Cody Driscoll and Paul Summers, both of whom are in the top 10 leading goal kickers for the league at this point of the year.
As for who would get the job on the dynamic duo, Ryan said it was a good question.
"We're a bit short down back, so it will probably be the two we have rolled with so far this year in Matt Kennedy and Nathan Alexander," Ryan said.
"They also got good recruits in at the start of the year, but they have a local back, (Thomas) Eckel, who is handy, so we'll be putting a bit of attention into him."
In order to get the win, Ryan said they needed to do better with their opportunities to score.
"After last week, we need to nail our opportunities in front of the goal," he said.
"Our goal kicking becomes our priority.
"That depends on the weather a bit; it's expected to rain, but that's something we need to do the best we can going forward."
With an 80 per cent chance of 5mm to 10mm on Saturday for Horsham, Ryan said the wet weather suited their playing style.
"As I said, we are undersized in height, so if we get a wet day, I'm pretty sure that'll suit us well," he said.
