Wimmera Olympian Lucy Stephan is safely through to the Olympic Women's Eights finals after a third placing in the repechage on Thursday evening at the Paris Olympics.
The Australian team finished third behind the USA and Canada and will now chase a medal in the final to be contested on Saturday, August 3, at 6.50pm AEST.
The team completed the course in 6 minutes 6.09 seconds to finish less than a half-a-boar behind the Americans with Canada, who took the race out hard fading in the final 500m, finishing just ahead of the fast-finishing Australian team.
The first four teams to cross the line in the repechage all made it through to the final, but all will have a difficult task to win gold given the outstanding form of the Romanian team who dominated to win their heat earlier in the week.
The Australian men's eight also won through to the final after finishing fourth in its repechage.
