Seussical the Musical, featuring cast members from six local towns, has debuted on stage in Horsham.
The curtain went up on the Horsham Arts Council’s production at Horsham Town Hall last night, and will run until Sunday May 14.
More than 80 people are involved, including 39 cast members aged 12 to 60-plus.
The colourful production, based on the characters in the Dr Seuss children's books, involves people from Horsham, Murtoa, Stawell, Warracknabeal, Rainbow and Ararat.
“We held open auditions across the Wimmera throughout the year,” said Horsham Art Council’s secretary and assistant director, Faye Johns.
“We've been rehearsing since the end of January, and we had three full dress rehearsals."
Ms Johns said preparing the sets and costumes was a huge undertaking.
“Each and every costume is originally sourced or handmade – they haven’t been bought from anywhere,” she said.
“It's the vision of our director, Maddi Ostapiw, to display a lot of creativity in the production.
“We have 14 newbies who have never performed for the Horsham Arts Council before, and their friends and families are very proud and excited," she said.
