New kinder facility nearing completion
The long awaited completion of Warracknabeal's new three-year-old kindergarten site is almost here with the final touches waiting to be done.
Gate installation, a ramp, installation of a sun shade and other small jobs are the last ones left before it's officially marked completed.
Children will have access to a large outdoor play area where their imagination can run wild with endless play possibilities surrounded by nature.
Yarriambiack Shire Council mayor Kylie Zanker said it's wonderful to see it all come together after two years of planning and construction.
"The picturesque back drop of the creek, beautiful shady trees and wildlife such as magpies warbling, birds chirping and the beautiful array of parrots makes it such a spectacular area for the children to play, learn and develop," she said.
"The design of the yard with pockets of open ended play areas to explore is going to be a favourite of many I am sure."
For three and four year old kindergarten in Warracknabeal, enrollment numbers are over 60 for the 2025 year.
Council CEO Tammy Smith said it's important to be able to split the two age groups up.
"We're aiming to be finished by Christmas," she said.
Currently, three-year-old kinder has been operating out of a temporary site at Warracknabeal Wheatland Church.
"It will be good to get them out of the temporary site and into the new facility," Ms Smith said.
Indoor spaces are large and ready to be utilised by children and staff with storage items already being moved into the new facility.
"I’m certain the children and staff will enjoy the new open plan building, gorgeous outdoor yard, space and terrific amenities," Cr Zanker said.
