Dimboola Memorial Secondary College has celebrated the unveiling of three new flagpoles and flags near the entry to the administration building.
Last Friday, the two college captains, Maryam Yahiat and Tilli Menzel, together with school council student representative and Koorie student Ethan Angel-Hands, led a short ceremony to officially
raise the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags together.
Students, staff, parents and visitors assembled around the new flagpoles before the start of the house athletics sports to mark the occasion.
Because the Memorial building has a heritage overlay associated with it and the
large, original wooden flagpole at the front of the building is historically significant to the Dimboola RSL, the school council made the decision to site the three new flagpoles together in a separate location that is visible on entering the school.
The school community says it's wonderful to now have all three flags flying together in the school grounds.
