Netballers to take on state’s best
Some of the region’s best young netballers will compete for Wimmera Mallee in the 2026 Netball Victoria state titles at the State Netball Centre in Parkville from Saturday March 7 to Monday March 9.
Wimmera Mallee will be represented by under 15 and under 17 female teams, where they will compete against 17 other regions from across Victoria.
The state titles presents talent identification opportunities for athletes and umpires, with state selectors observing matches across the three-day tournament.
State titles officer for the Wimmera Mallee netball region Cathie Weidemann said it was a great opportunity for the netballers to play against the best players across the state in what also served as a talent identification opportunity for both players and umpires.
“It should be a great weekend and it gives us a chance to see how we compare against the other regions,” Weidemann said.
“It also gives players and officials the chance to get talent identified and the opportunity to be selected into the Northern Zone Talent Academy, as numerous players have done in recent years.
