Natimuk Road power outage: 1371 homes affected after car hits power pole
Homes left without power for almost 10 hours after car accident.
Almost 1400 homes were without power after a single-car accident in Horsham just before 4pm on Tuesday, November 5.
Horsham Police Senior Sergeant Dale McIvor said a 41-year-old Cowes woman and her pet dog were travelling west on Natimuk Road.
"The driver is being assessed by paramedics but believed not to have serious injuries," Snr Sgt McIvor said.
"The pet wasn't hurt in the accident."
Snr Sgt McIvor said preliminary reports indicated the car mounted the curb and hit a power pole; however, the cause of the crash still is being investigated.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the woman was taken to Wimmera Base Hospital in a stable condition.
A Powercor spokesperson said crews worked for almost 10 hours to restore power.
"Crews attended an incident on Natimuk Road that impacted power supply to 1371 customers," they said.
"Our control team and field crews worked together to restore power to all customers by 1.20am.
"We thank all affected customers for their patience as we worked to get power back on safely and quickly."
Earlier in the day, Powercor crews conducted repairs to the electricity network along Stawell Road after a truck brought down powerlines.
This incident affected power to 24 customers for about two hours, with supply restored by 1pm.
No one was injured.
