Natimuk local to launch art residency
Dr Greg Pritchard of Natimuk will be launching his Arts Residency Natimuk Exile on Sunday November 24 at 21 Main Street Natimuk.
From 5pm, attendees can see the residency and the facilities available for visiting artists.
It is hoped the residency will draw artists to Natimuk to gain inspiration from the Wimmera environment and interact with the local artists.
The area has drawn many artists before, including Nicholas Chevalier, Arthur Boyd, Sidney Nolan, Phillip Hunter, Jill Orr and the artists associated with ACT Natimuk and the Natimuk Frinj festival.
As an artist, Dr Pritchard has a PhD in Literature, a Masters in Art in Public Space, and has created work as a writer, performer and visual artist.
He has also be involved in Natimuk silo shows and producing large community spectacles in other areas.
He has just finished a month-long residency in the Wagga Wagga art galley’s E3 space and is working in Echuca on the Ripple Festival planned for May 2025.
“I have had residencies in Australia and overseas and I would like people to come to Natimuk and enjoy the comfort of my house, and be inspired to make art," he said.
