Mother’s Day Fun-Fest
WITH a lovely morning weather-wise, the Tower Park Market and Mother's Day Treasure Hunt last Saturday was a hit with about 60 families participating in the event.
With locals and visitors from Horsham, Murtoa and Warracknabeal, some even stopped in on their way from Adelaide.
The treasure hunt took families around town, with participating businesses receiving visits from plenty of people.
Kylie and Shane Harman from The Forbidden Forest organised the treasure hunt and the contents of the gift bags, with the CWA making the bags.
Many businesses were involved, demonstrating once again the power of the Dimboola community working together to create a unique experience for both locals and visitors alike.
With a wide range of wonderful retail offerings, there’s also the John Deere Museum on Victoria St or pop into the CWA Garage Sale at the RSL.
The treasure hunt concluded with a free morning tea in the Imaginarium courtyard, featuring lovely cupcakes made by Kathy Cross.
Mums were the focus of the event, and by all accounts, they enjoyed the attention.
The Tower Park Market was smaller this time, but stallholders did well, and having the market added to the festive atmosphere of the main street event.
With this year's focus moving towards Fun-Fest events rather than ‘just a market’ at Tower Park, the hope is to position Dimboola as a fun place to visit, whether for a day trip or for those travelling through our region, as well as for our local community.
Being able to work with local businesses to increase visitation benefits everyone – a new retail business, 'Once Upon a Shelf' - was also welcomed into the town’s lineup, showing Dimboola continuing to move forward with a growing retail sector along the main street.
Many thanks to the many people, organisations and businesses involved in the day, with a big shout-out to Hindmarsh Shire's Community Event funding that helped make this event possible.
The next event will be on Saturday, July 25, with a Christmas In July event, with a twist.
