More teams eliminated as finals fever heats up

On Saturday, August 31, Ararat's pressure was too much for Stawell, with the Rats winning by 56 points. Playing in Nhill, co-coach Tom Mills booted seven goals, one more than the Warriors.
In netball, Horsham Saints adjusted to the unforgiving conditions to record a big win against Dimboola.
In Edenhope, Harrow Balmoral booked its place in the HDFNL grand final with an 82-point thumping of the Swifts.
Laharum will enjoy a week off after it defeated Noradjuha Quantong in the A Grade netball.
On September 1, the first day of Spring, the weather tested all sides regardless of where they were playing.
In Stawell, Nhill made the most of its first finals game in 14 years, defeating Horsham in extra time.
Unfortunately, Nhill's netballers could not repeat the heroics, going down by one goal to Stawell.
Finally, Rupanyup defeated Kalkee by the narrowest of margins to advance to next week's preliminary final.
In the weekend's biggest win, Noradjuha Quantong defeated Pimpinio by 79 points.
The Bombers will have sides in the HDFNL senior football and A Grade netball preliminary finals, against the Swifts and Rupanyup, respectively.
The finals take place in Natimuk on Saturday, September 7.
On the same day, the WFNL's qualifying final at Warracknabeal's Anzac Park will feature minor premiers Southern Mallee Thunder and Ararat in the football, while crosstown rivals Horsham and Horsham Saints in the netball.
On Sunday, September 8, the Warriors will be in full force at Coughlin Park, with the netballers taking on Dimboola while the footballers face Nhill.
