Horsham man arrested and questioned about mining documents

A Horsham man was arrested and questioned after reports that documents were fraudulently prepared and submitted as part of a proposed mining project.
"Horsham Crime Investigation Unit detectives executed a warrant at a residential home in Horsham on Wednesday, February 12, as part of a continuing investigation," a spokesperson for the Horsham Police said.
"A 54-year-old man was arrested and interviewed after reports documents were fraudulently prepared and submitted as part of a proposed mining project.
"The Horsham man has been released pending further enquiries."
The police spokesperson said it was a continuing investigation, and no further information could be released at this time.
About 70 members of the community from the Wimmera and Mallee attended a recent meeting at the Horsham RSL to discuss the impact on agricultural production they fear the proposed mineral sand mines in the region could have on them and the future of food production.
