Million dollar boost to Murtoa courts
The outlook for recreational sport in Murtoa is positive following the official opening of the Murtoa Showyards Reserve Netball and Tennis Courts on Thursday, May 21.
The $1.148 million project at Murtoa Recreation Reserve features modern netball and tennis courts, upgraded lighting, player shelters, and purpose-built fencing.
Yarriambaick Shire Council deputy mayor Corinne Heintze said the project reflected the strength of local collaboration.
“This project is a strong example of what can be achieved when community vision is backed by collaboration and investment,” she said.
“It's wonderful to see this project complete, and the benefits that it will bring to the clubs and the board community for many years to come.”
Cr Heintze acknowledged the community's dedicated fundraising efforts, including contributions of over $130,000 from the Minyip Murtoa Football Netball Club and the Murtoa Showyards Reserve Committee.
The Victorian Government’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund contributed $918,998 to the project.
