Miller 'wouldn't change anything' as he balances both football and cricket
Luke Miller has been selected at rep level in football and cricket.
Luke Miller has already had a busy sporting calendar after another WFNL season with the Horsham Saints and representing the Greater Western Victoria Rebels in the V/Line Cup.
But now, for Miller, 15, the focus is on cricket as he is three rounds into the Horsham Cricket Association A Grade season with Homers.
Despite a busy schedule year-round, Miller takes it in his stride.
"I don't really mind it because I really enjoy both, but it does take a toll on your body every now and then, but I really enjoy it," Miller said.
"I wouldn't change anything about it."
Miller has had a strong start to the campaign, with 124 runs and six wickets in his first full A Grade season.
"I really enjoy [senior cricket]. I've got Adam Atwood opening with me, who's a really good mentor as a captain and a player," he said.
"I really enjoy the challenge."
Miller has been selected alongside fellow HCA players Jobe Dickinson, Harrison Hoffmann, Phoenix Hopper and Hugh Weidemann in the Western Waves under-16 squad.
Miller will be playing this level of cricket for the first time, having previously represented HCA in the Country Week tournament.
"It's a pretty cool accomplishment. [I'm] pretty keen for the upcoming tournament later in December," he said.
"It's pretty cool to make it with the other Horsham boys as well."
Despite having his 'full focus on cricket the past few weeks,' Miller will be starting to get back into kicking and fitness sessions to keep his skills up as he prepares for a strong 2025 football season.
Miller will be looking to continue to build his reputation as a strong footballer after a player-of-the-match performance during a 2024 V/Line Cup match against Goulburn Murray.
He has set his sights on a squad spot with the Rebels during the 2025 talent league season.
"It was a really cool [experience]," he said.
"It was an eye-opener playing Geelong and all of them, just how clean they were at the footy and how good and big they were.
"But it just really shows where you've got to be. But it was good to perform at that as well."
