Michelle Faye Ismay was born to Dawn and Ron Greig in Castlemaine on April 20 196.
She was a sister to Janine, Rosalie, Locky, Rhonda and Darren.
Michelle attended Campbells Creek Primary School in her early years, then moved to Rainbow with her family where she continued her education at Rainbow Primary and Rainbow High School, winning numerous trophies in the early years for her prowess in tennis, netball and swimming.
Michelle was appointed Rainbow High School’s clerical assistant in 1980.
She worked there for over 40 years as a dedicated employee. She loved her work and the changes in her role over the years.
Michelle married Ron Ismay on September 14 1991, and the couple were blessed with two children: Bridget in 1999, and Thomas in 2001.
Michelle had many interests and hobbies throughout the years and she excelled at everything she put her hand to.
She made and gifted many things over the years to family and friends, including her hand painted door stops, ceramic plates and bowls, patchwork, quilting and quillows, and photo frames.
She spent hours every weekend baking, and cooked for the local craft shop for years. She had regular buyers for her yo-yos, almond biscuits, smartie biscuits and many others.
Passionfruit sponges were also a favourite and she would often knock on someone’s door and gift them one.
Show cooking was a favourite time of the year, with hours spent cooking to fill the cubicles.
When the show schedule came out, she would get the highlighter out, and go through what she could make or enter.
She was the winner of the Best Overall Exhibitor many times, but it was more about the cooking that she liked.
Everything from cakes, biscuits , eggs ,vegetables, jams and sauces were entered.
Michelle loved her garden.
She took much pleasure spending hours on the ride-on mower and, when finished, standing back and appreciating how good it looked.
She also loved the push mower and was very upset when told she was not to use it anymore - she was very happy though when she got to try her new whipper snipper and electric sprayer.
Michelle was funny and kind, and loved everything in life.
She was the most loving Aunty and friend to all of her nieces and nephews, and took great pride in her role, never missing their birthdays and special events, and always showing a great interest in them and their lives. They adored her.
In 2014, Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer, and after six months away, she was able to return to work at Rainbow P-12 College again.
In October 2021 she was again diagnosed with cancer, and accepted what the outcome would be.
Her beautiful caring friends understood her need for privacy. They continued to love and support her quietly behind the scenes throughout her journey.
We would like to acknowledge the care, time and love of her sister, Rhonda, who took Michelle to appointments, cared deeply for her and was there 24/7, chatting and laughing on the treatment days.
Our beloved Michelle Faye Ismay, passed away on January 23 2023 at her sister’s home in Horsham. She was aged 61.
