Grampians Health is conducting custom-made training in mental health for its staff.

The 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course, over two days, is being held across all campuses to help staff deliver prompt mental first aid to friends, family and co-workers in need.

Almost 200 employees of Grampians Health have completed the course so far.

Participants are now able to provide early support to people dealing with mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and substance abuse issues.

“Through this course, the participants will learn to identify the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where to get help and the kind of help that is backed by research to be effective,” GH health, safety and wellbeing director Chrissie Stone said.
