These events, culminating in the West Wimmera Seniors Expo on Thursday October 24, will provide opportunities for seniors to learn, connect and celebrate.

Starting next week, the Kaniva, Goroke, Harrow and Edenhope Men’s Sheds will all host open days, presenting great opportunities for the community to explore the incredible work being done by residents, and to connect with members who contribute to meaningful community projects.

Kaniva Men's Shed open day is on October 8, Goroke October 10 and Edenhope October 17. Free lunch will be provided.

The Harrow Men’s Shed will host a special men's health event on October 10. This event aims to raise awareness around important health and wellbeing issues facing men of all ages.

With guest speaker David Turnbull from the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the evening will include a barbecue and campfire gathering, creating a supportive environment to discuss health concerns and foster camaraderie.

The West Wimmera Seniors Expo will be a highlight of the month, featuring informative presentations on key topics such as aged care, cyber safety, active living, and emergency management.

Attendees will also enjoy a live performance by renowned artist Wendy Stapleton, taking them on a nostalgic journey through the Swinging Sixties.

West Wimmera Shires Council’s Senior Citizen of the Year recipient will also be announced on the day.

CEO David Bezuidenhout said the shire was excited to celebrate and support its senior community.
