Market returns to main street
The Warracknabeal Lions Club 'Community Market' will return to Scott Street tomorrow with organisers expecting a strong local turnout and a mix of returning and new stallholders.
One of the market organisers, Heather Huebner, said about 14 stalls had already been booked for the event, with exhibitors coming from across Warracknabeal and nearby district towns.
“I think there are around 13 or 14 stalls booked,” she said.
Ms Huebner said the market would feature a wide variety of produce and goods, including some popular favourites.
“We’ve got some laying hens this time, also got a couple of stalls with some nice baked goods, as well as a couple of plant stalls,” she said.
She said shoppers could also expect the popular great meat, along with vegetables and other stall offerings.
The market returns to its usual location after the previous event was held at the Anglican Parish Centre as part of a special celebration.
“It’s back in the main street again, back in Scott Street, in the usual spots,” Ms Huebner said.
Ms Huebner said the event would mainly focus on market stalls, but encouraged the community to come along and support local sellers.
“Come along if they want some plants or some nice, fresh-baked goods,” she said.
She also confirmed one crowd favourite would be back.
“Oh, and the donuts will definitely be there,” she said.
Ms Huebner said two or three new stallholders are expected to attend the market for the first time.
She added that while this weekend’s event would be a regular market, a bigger Easter celebration was just around the corner.
“In a fortnight’s time, Easter Saturday will be a much bigger celebration because there are lots of things going on in the street,” she said.
The Warracknabeal Lions Club Community Market will be held this Saturday, March 21, from 9am to 1pm.
