Market goes ahead despite weather
Hopetoun and District Neighbourhood House brought its forecourt to life on Sunday March 1, hosting a community Market Day alongside visitors to the reunion weekend arriving in town.
Stallholders set up from 9am to 1pm at the Neighbourhood House forecourt on Lascelles Street, with the undercover area providing the market with some protection as weather conditions shifted throughout the morning.
House manager Erin Paech said the event welcomed a small but committed line-up of traders and a crowd affected by the conditions.
“We had 8 stall holders, very low traffic, but that was definitely down to the weather," she said,
Despite the quieter foot traffic, Ms Paech said several stallholders still recorded solid sales.
“Considering low numbers in public attendance, some stall holders did quite well,” she said.
Ms Paech thanked everyone who supported the market, particularly those who set up despite the wet and windy conditions.
“We would like to thank our stallholders for the dedication in turning up even in unfavourable weather,” she said.
