Marcroft and Tottenham row to victory
Horsham Rowing Club's Sally Marcroft and Sarah Tottenham rowed to victory in the Female Masters Double Scull at Rutherglen on Sunday.
The experienced duo were leading all the way and managed to hang on ahead of a fast finishing Hawthorn outfit. Ballarat City came in third.
Coach Ray White was thrilled with the win.
"I am thrilled for the girls and they were very happy about it too," he said.
"The Rutherglen Regatta is huge. There are a lot of clubs that come out for it and there are always boats everywhere.
"It is the oldest Regatta in Australia, celebrating their 158th year, so to come out of it with some good results is huge for the club."
Dan Hendrie, in his second Regatta, finished third in the Male Masters Double Scull with Essendon's Tony Sirotic.
White said it was a great performance.
"Daniel only learnt to row last year and you don't get a chance to row beforehand with your partner in mixed events, so they did well," he said.
Sarah Tottenham also finished third in the single Female Masters Single Scull and the Coxed Quad Scull of Krista Fischer, Audrey Kottek, Sally Marcroft and Sarah Tottenham also finished third.
The club will now prepare for the Masters State Championships in April.
