Madhu Sharma took home the top prize at West Wimmera Health Service's 2024 cooking competition, impressing the judges with her flavorful chickpea coconut curry.

Fellow contestants Lucy Holland and Denise Barbelescu also wowed the crowd with their culinary skills, serving up lentil sausage rolls with a chickpea salad and sweet potato gnocchi with roasted chickpeas and chorizo, respectively.

Competition organiser and WWHS health promotion officer Jake Wiffen said the event drew a great crowd, with attendees enjoying the delicious meals and sampling the region's best foods.

"It was fantastic to see local ingredients showcased, especially plant-based proteins that can be grown right here in the region," he said.

"We had a fantastic turnout, with everyone enjoying the delicious meals created, hitting up the 'taster table' of the region's finest jams, oils and chutneys, and sharing in games and activities."

Celebrity chef and guest judge Tim Bone added to the excitement by preparing two standout dishes - a duck and potato pizza and mouth-watering duck sliders - rounding off a day of food-filled fun.
