Locals hit the road for the 'Drive Towards a Cure' weekend
Hit the road fundraiser for Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute

Gavin Morrow, Deputy Chair of the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute (FECRI) and Horsham community leader, will take the driver's seat for the Drive to Survive tour on March 28, 2025.
He can't wait to hit the open road, and he invites locals to join him and the convoy of vehicles on a three-day journey to raise money for Australia's only regional cancer research institute.
Gavin Morrow, Dealer Principal of Morrow Motors and a celebrated philanthropist, is no stranger to going the extra mile for a cause.
From raising $25,000 with his brothers in a daring ride along the Murray River on old postie bikes to spearheading regular fundraising events in Horsham, Gavin's dedication to community and health is unmatched. Now, he's rallying the region to rev up their engines and join the fight against cancer.
"Cancer affects everyone, but through FECRI, we're making strides in understanding and defeating it," Gavin said.
"This drive is about bringing people together-families, friends, and car enthusiasts-for a cause that touches us all. Whether you've got a classic car, a ute, or a family wagon, I encourage everyone to join us on this journey.
"Together, we can drive towards a cure," he said.
The Drive to Survive tour will kick off at 110 Lydiard Street, Ballarat, on 28 March where participants will meet Professor Kannourakis and the FECRI team.
A colourful convoy of vehicles driven by passionate individuals will set the tone for this uplifting community event.

"This event is about more than just fundraising; it's about uniting our community to support cutting-edge research," said Professor George Kannourakis, Director of FECRI.
"Every kilometre driven and every dollar raised brings us closer to defeating cancer. Together, we can make a real difference."
Gavin's leadership and long-standing ties to the Wimmera community bring a unique energy to this initiative. As Chair of the FECRI Fundraising Committee and a previous Commissioner of the Wimmera Football League, Gavin has proven his ability to rally communities for impactful causes.
He is also a proud member of the Healthy Minds Group in Horsham.
