Local swimmers continue to shine
On Saturday the Warracknabeal Swimming Club hosted their second meet for the season. There were swimmers from Ararat, St Arnaud, Horsham, Warracknabeal, Maryborough and Kerang Swimming clubs.
The list of our local Warracknabeal swimmers receiving medals at this meet are as follows.
Boys: Lucas Moore 9-10 years silver 50m Backstroke; Cooper Schultz 8 & under silver 50m Freestyle; Oliver Credlin 13-14 years bronze 50m Freestyle, silver 100m Freestyle.
Girls: Pippa Shannon 11-12 years silver 50m Butterfly; Heidi Anderson 9-10 years bronze 50m Breaststroke; Elsa Byron 15-16 years bronze 100m Freestyle, bronze 50m Breaststroke;
Eljah Keam 13-16 years bronze 200m Individual Medley, 13-14 years bronze 50m Backstroke, bronze 50m Butterfly, bronze 50m Breaststroke, silver 100m Breaststroke; Olivia Moore 11-12 years bronze 50m Freestyle, silver 50m Breaststroke, bronze 100m Breaststroke.
The perpetual trophy winners were as follows:
W. Moroney - Women’s 100m Freestyle: Ebony Start (St Arnaud); RSL - Mens' 100m Freestyle: Matthew Ellis (Horsham); Phillips - girls' 10-11 years 50m Butterfly: Eva Brady (Ararat); Geoff Ferguson - Best female swimmer over all 4 strokes 17 years & over: Ebony Start (St Arnaud).
Neil Ross Team shield winner was the Ararat Swimming Club with 566 points for the day.
It’s a huge job to run a swimming club and we are lucky to have a very dedicated group of parents, coaches and swimmers to keep the club going well.
