Local juniors score well in firefighter championships
WARRACKNABEAL Juniors competed extremely well on the weekend in Stawell for the CFA/VFBV State Firefighter Championships.
Thousands gathered in Stawell over both days to take part in the festivities and was a welcomed buzz to town after a 20-year hiatus.
There was an opening parade, remarks from CFA acting chief executive, Jason Heffernan and VFBV state president, Samantha Collins.
Echuca A came in first, taking the top spot from Melton A who have held it for the past five years.
Warracknabeal came away with two first placings, two second placings, three third placings, one fourth placing and two fifth placings.
There were roughly 40 other teams across Victoria – Warracknabeal Juniors came equal third in the Dry aggregate, fifth in the wet aggregate, third in the Under-17 aggregate, fourth in the Under-14 aggregate, and fourth in the overall aggregate.

Coach, Clinton Jonasson said he was extremely impressed with how the juniors competed over the two-day championships, using all their skills that they had learnt and practiced at training and at the other competitions throughout the season.
He congratulated all the juniors on how they represented the Warracknabeal Fire Brigade.
This weekend the senior running team will head to Stawell to participate in the two-day Urban Senior, Rural Junior and Senior State Firefighter Championships.
On Saturday night the juniors will take part in the annual torchlight parade starting at 8:30 pm – brigades will march down Victoria Street, Stawell.
