Llewelyn Clark celebrates 20 years as second-generation business owner
Clarks Furniture celebrates two year with second-generation owner.
Llewelyn Clark became the second generation of his family to run Clarks Furniture when he took over the companies removals business in February 2005.
In 2025, he looks back on two decades in charge of his family-run business.
"When I took it on from them, we had one truck and trailer," said Mr Clark.
"Now we've got four trucks, trailers right up to semi-trailers, we're doing an Australia-wide service, [and] even some international moving."
In 2009, he also took over the company's furniture store in Stawell's Main Street and expanded the business with the purchase of several storage units; now, the company has more than 70 self-storage units.
"I've always enjoyed a challenge," said Mr Clark.
"Business-wise, I love a good challenge, so having the business growing really excites me."
Since taking over the business, Mr Clark has been named Victoria removalist of the year by the Australian Achiever Awards multiple times.
"That was certainly a highlight, winning those awards," he said.
Mr Clark also said the company has had big moments when moving some high profile people.
"We've been involved involved in moves for royalty, [and] a number of politicians," he said.
Clarks Furniture removals business offers different tiers of service, right up to a full package service where they pack up the boxes and do the removal 'right up to a valet unpack'.
The business also organises pet and car freight and can organise accommodation for customers in transit while undertaking longer moves.
In 2014, Mr Clark bought Rowse Removal in Horsham.
"That expanded our footprint across the Wimmera, where we're the largest and the oldest removal company," said Mr Clark.
Clarks Furniture also offers caravan storage and rents out workshops with three-phase power connections.
Despite the growth Clarks Furniture has had through the last two decades, Mr Clark said the organisation is still 'very much' a family business.
"We still like to keep that feel of of an authentic family business," said Mr Clark
Mr Clark got married to Anna in 2012, and she then joined the business.
"She came in then and has really been a great support in the growth and development of the business," said Mr Clark
The couple have two sons and are keen to see the Clarks Furniture a third-generation business in the future.
"We've got two boys that love to help out now in the school holidays," said Mr Clark.
