Lifesaving program for Yarriambiack
Yarriambiack Shire Council is partnering with Ambulance Victoria to roll out the Call Push Shock program in its towns.
In partnership with the Heart Foundation, Ambulance Victoria has designed and developed a new cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) program and practice kit: Call Push Shock.
Council is looking to collaborate with community groups interested in hosting program session for members and the wider community.
These sessions will be co-ordinated and run by Ambulance Victoria staff and local volunteer ambulance community officers.
Thousands of Victorians suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year.
A patient is twice as likely to survive a cardiac arrest when a bystander performs CPR compared to someone who receives no help, and this survival rate dramatically increases if an AED is used.
The Call Push Shock program and kit builds confidence and capability in everyday people to recognise a cardiac arrest and take the lifesaving actions of calling triple zero, immediately starting CPR and shocking with an available AED.
