Lifelike exercise for fire brigade
Horsham Town Hall was the site of a simulated fire during a recent training exercise for Horsham Fire Brigade.
Multiple fire appliances, emergency personnel and council staff participated in the detailed scenario in which they responded to a fire breaking out at the town hall auditorium and persons being unaccounted for following evacuation.
It featured simulating an evacuation, suppressing the fire and implementing emergency communication protocols.
The exercise was designed to enhance emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety and preparedness of both fire personnel and the community, aiming to test and refine the brigade's operational procedures, co-ordination with local organisations and overall readiness in the event of a real-life emergency.
"Training exercises like these are crucial for our team to stay prepared and respond effectively to any emergency," Horsham Fire Brigade captain Marc Ampt said.
"The collaboration with Horsham Rural City Council allowed us to simulate a realistic scenario, improving our coordination and response times."
Horsham Town Hall staff played an integral role in planning and executing the exercise, providing essential support and resources as they worked closely with the fire brigade to ensure the simulation was as realistic and beneficial as possible.
Those participating said continuous training and community engagement were key components of ensuring the safety and resilience of Horsham.
