Lentils secured an impressive win against Wheat to take out the 2023 senior table tennis premiership on Monday night.
Winning 8 sets, 27 games, 411 points to Wheat's 4 sets, 16 games, 369 points, Lentils took control from the start when Owen Osbourne's defeat of Sandon Schultz 11-6, 11-8, 11-3, was quickly backed up with a win by Graeme Koschitzke who defeated Richard Tickner 11-8, 11-4, 11-7.
Wheat's Wendy Lehmann fought back, securing a win against Keedie Wardle 7-11, 11-6, 17-15, 11-9, but it was short lived as Zeke Clark went on to defeat Wheat's Craig Byron 11-9, 11-8, 14-12 to give Lentils a lead of three sets to one.
Lentils continued their dominance, winning the first doubles when Owen/Graeme defeated Sandon/Richard 11-7, 11-5, 11-3.
Wheat, however, was not done yet and went on to win the next doubles match as Wendy/Craig defeated Keedie/Zeke 11-3, 12-10, 12-10.
But it was again short lived as Lentils pushed forward to claim three of the four reverse singles.
Owen defeated Richard 11-6, 11-4, 11-7; Keedie defeated Craig 12-10, 8-11, 11-8, 12-10; Zeke defeated Wendy 8-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-13, 11-4 in a long set, leaving Wheat victorious in one set when Sandon defeated Graeme 11-8, 11-9, 11-7.
The remaining doubles were a mixed bag with Wheat's Sandon/Wendy defeated Owen/Keedie 7-11, 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 15-13 taking the first set, before Lentils' Graeme/Zeke defeated Richard/Craig 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 11-2 to give them a comfortable win and secure the premiership honours.
