Lawson celebrates 300th game milestone
Pimpinio stalwart Aiden Lawson played his 300th game on the weekend in the reserves against Noradjuha Quantong at Pimpinio Recreation Reserve.
Lawson, 38, has been playing for Pimpinio since 2003. On Saturday, it was a special day when he celebrated his 300th, as he had his three children, Archer, Nyah, and Zahla, at the ground, as well as his partner, Jess.
His children were in the club rooms warming up and cheering everyone on, and they also participated in the coin toss.
Lawson said it was a fun day.
"It was fun, and I really enjoyed it," Lawson said.
"It was nice to be recognised by the club and to have my family there, and to celebrate it with the people I love is just extra special."
Lawson was one of the best players in their 112-point loss, with the final score 18.17.125 to 2.1.13, and he still believes he has a lot left to offer.
"A few of the boys reckon I have another 50 in me, and I will probably play again next year as I am still enjoying my football," Lawson stated.
Lawson has played down back all his career, mostly at fullback, but he does sneak up the ground occasionally to kick a goal. He has played in three losing grand finals and has come close to a best and fairest, but he said his highlight has been seeing the club succeed over the years.
"We have seen success, and to see different people develop into good footballers and see young kids go through to playing senior football is special," Lawson said.
"You make many friends and connections playing football, which makes it enjoyable."
