Late night shopping a success
The streets of Warracknabeal were flooded with people for another year of shopping bargains during Warracknabeal Action Group's (WAG) Deal in the Beal last Friday.
For the first time, WAG strayed away from the normal Sunday trading event and turned it into a late night shopping on a Friday night with most business open until 7pm.
Event organiser Kathryn Wilken said it was a great day with the day change and format being "well received".
"It was chaotic really," she said.
"It was very busy, it's more than we've had previously.
"Traders were all very happy with how it went."
Eighteen businesses around town participated with eager shoppers entering the draw to win one of four $250 vouchers to spend at participating stores.
"We wanted to do something special for our traders so they can showcase what they have on offer," Ms Wilken said.
"It also gives people the opportunity to browse in shops and be rewarded to spend money locally.
"Every store had a special going."
Phil Zanker, Lucy Holland, Wendy and Stacey were the lucky winners who walked away with a $250 voucher.
"We have really great choices available in town," she said.
"The money WAG gave away goes straight back into local traders."
Ms Wilken said they are looking forward to doing it again next year.
"We'll have some tweaks here and there but it was absolutely an amazing day," she said.
"It makes all the work worthwhile."
