Lakers out for redemption against Natimuk
Taylors Lake and Natimuk United will each aim to finish the season on a high when their senior football sides meet on Saturday for round 18 of the Horsham District Football Netball League.
Both sides have had a mixed 2025, with Taylors Lake registering three wins and one draw so far, while Natimuk have five wins.
After a string of losses the Rams recorded a 132-50 victory over Edenhope Apsley in round 17 and have the benefit of finishing their season on their home turf.
Similarly, Taylors Lake produced arguably their best performance of the season last week with a resounding 151-52 win over Rupanyup.
The Lakers will also have added motivation for Saturday’s game, having narrowly lost 82-69 when the two sides met back in round seven.
Lee Marshall, interim coach of Taylors Lake, said he expected a good contest with the sides playing a similar style of football.
“They're a very similar side to us in the way that they're very young and like to play fast footy,” Marshall said.
“They're going to want to finish the year off on a high with a win, a bit of reward for their efforts, so I think it's going to be a great contest.
“It will definitely be won or lost out of the midfield.”
Marshall said the Lakers would enter Saturday with confidence following last week’s impressive victory.
“I'm grateful that we've got some momentum behind us and the boys can hit it with fuller confidence,” Marshall said.
Natimuk will secure a seventh-place finish on the ladder with a victory while the Lakers could potentially finish eighth if they round out their season with a win.
