TAYLORS Lake and Natimuk United will be looking to get their first win of the season when they face each other at Dock Lake Reserve to kick off round six.
Both have young teams and with Taylors Lake decimated by injury, a close game is expected. Lakers coach Kyle Pinto is confident his team can respond after two hidings the past fortnight.
“After the last two weeks the boys were a bit flat after the big losses, but now things have settled, they are looking forward to this match. Both teams are around the same mark in terms of development and the boys are very excited as a football club and are confident we can get our first win of the season,” Pinto said.
“I have no doubt that the Rams feel the same way and I expect them to come out strong,” Pinto added.
The Lakers are getting a few new players from various clubs highlighted by Matt White from the SANFL.
“Matt is coming from the SANFL and is bringing a friend with him. We also have a couple of players from the Saints and a few others that are going to play this week and hopefully help us to a win,” Pinto concluded.
Noradjuha Quantong will look to bounce back when they host Edenhope Apsley at the Quantong Recreation Reserve.
Both teams are around the same mark this year and Bombers coach Damian Cameron has noted this is a must win match if they want to play finals this year.
“They have been up and down like ourselves this year. For us we can’t bring anyone back from injury which will make it hard,” Cameron said.
“We cannot have a repeat of last week. The first quarter needs to be big for us. We will be looking to start strong but we also know the Saints will also be going hard early. If we can stay on top early, I am confident we can win,” he concluded.
Pimpinio will be looking to secure their fourth win of the season when they travel to Stawell to face the Swifts at North Park.
The Tigers will be buoyed by last week’s win as it brings them to 3 wins – the same number they had last year. Coach Clint Burdett realizes how big of a game this is.
“This is a winnable game for us. If we want to play finals, we need to win this game. We have a young side and they are looking forward to the challenge at moving up the ladder” Burdett said.
Things don’t get easier for Laharum when they host Harrow Balmoral. Despite where both teams stand on the ladder Glenn Doyle said the club is going into every game with a winning attitude.
“We go into every game thinking we can win. Anything can happen on the day. I just want to see continual improvement from the youngsters,” Doyle explained.
Hamish Roberts is still another two weeks away from playing his 300th.
In the other two matches, Jeparit Rainbow will look to bounce back when they travel to Kaniva and Rupanyup will be looking to add more hurt to 9th placed Kalkee in the Grand Final rematch at Rupanyup Recreation Reserve.
