The Warracknabeal Racing Club has a long association with allowing female jockeys to race - back as far as the 1970s when the Warracknabeal Turf Club would have a special race day for lady riders at their non-TAB meeting in November.
In those days, a caravan was rented from Stan Verey for the ladies to change in.
But now, the Warracknabeal Racing Club is proud to say they have updated accommodations for the ever-increasing numbers of female jockeys, with the completion of their air conditioned two-shower, two toilet changing rooms.
Funded by the state government, the racing industry and the club itself, totalling to nearly $40,000, has seen a reduction of space in the Raceday Office to make room for the upgrades.
The build was carried out by locals, with Maurie Parsons, Quick Plumbing, Warrack Furnishings, Warrack Refrigeration, and Werner Electrics all coming together to create the space.
