Ladder leaders ready for Burras
Ladder leaders Horsham Saints are looking to claim another victory this week, and it will have to be a gallant performance from Minyip Murtoa if they are going to stop them.
The Horsham side has had only one blip in their season, a defeat by the Thunder in early May, but has earned the points in their other matches.
The Burras have battled it out week in, week out, falling agonisingly short of the win in the first match of the season, defeated by the Demons by just a couple of points, before dropping games to the Thunder and the Tigers.
Coach of the Saints, Angus Martin, said he's happy his side is the ladder leader, but warned it's a long season, so he and the side are taking every week as it comes.
He also confirmed that, despite their opposition this Saturday not having won yet, the Saints won't be taking them lightly.
"They've been in every game they've played but just fallen short," admitted Martin.
"They've got some quality players."
While the Saints have plenty of quality, they are also lucky to have depth, though a few injuries have cursed them recently.
"At the moment we have Sam Clyne out with a broken ankle, myself with a torn hamstring, Nathan Davey with a torn groin and Jacob Obeirne with a sore back," the coach said.
"We've got some quality depth in our reserves, so just one soldier out, one in at this stage."
The Burras, Martin said, are a big-bodied side and will be looking to use their skill.
He said it will be a good match-up between the sides because if the Saints can get the ball into space, they should be able to burn them the other way.
"The game will be decided by who takes their chances," Martin simplified.
"We got let off by Nhill’s bad kicking last week early and ran over them, so we need to put scoreboard pressure on early."
