KLU come in with confidence and leave with the win | HDFNL round 16
Kaniva Leeor United beat Pimpinio 51-39.
The Kaniva Leeor United Cougars claimed victory on the A grade netball court in round 16 of the HDFNL.
Playing away on Saturday, August 3, the Cougars bet the Pimpinio Tigers 51-39 at the Pimpinio Recreation Reserve.
"I'm really happy with the win," said Kaniva Leeor United's A grade netball coach Kylie King.
"I won't lie, we were a little bit worried about Pimpinio because they've been playing really well.
"[We're] really stoked for the win."
KLU controlled the opening quarter, surging to an eight goal lead by the first break.
Pimpinio fought their way into the contest in latter terms, but couldn't close down the visiting team's advantage.
'[Our] defence is coming together really nicely," King said.
[We're] applying a lot of pressure to their attacking end.
"It's our consistency across the court that's coming into play now."

King applauded Pimpinio's defensive end, which has been a strength of the side all year.
"The girls are really good in the air, and they were really good with the low ball, so it was hard to get much past them," she said.
"And if you make one mistake, they're on it."
Victory against Pimpinio is important for the Cougars.
The side has a difficult run to finals, in round 17 they face a refreshed Kalkee before sitting out the final round with a bye.
"The bye in the last round is probably not ideal coming into finals and we will have a tough one against Kalkee next week," King said.
"But, don't count us out, that's for sure, the girls are coming in with a bit of confidence."
With it unlikely KLU will claim any more competition points this season, the Swifts narrow path to finals remains.
A 56-50 win against Harrow Balmoral in round 16 has aided the Baggies quest, but the side will need to keep winning, and then hope their points percentage is above the Cougars when the numbers are finally counted.
The Swifts will end the season as favourites against Natimuk United but will likely have a tough task getting the better of Edenhope Apsley in round 17.
Although The Saints did suffer an unexpected loss in round 16, falling to Natimuk United at the Natimuk Showgrounds.
It was a four quarter performance but the blue and yellow, the Rams limited Edenhope Apsley's scoring while growing its own lead.
Edenhope Apsley were without two of their strongest players, Sacha McDonald and Lavinia Fox.
Emma Uebergang and Danielle Hanson were named best for Natimuk United.
And, Rupanyup stormed to victory against Taylors Lake 71-31.
