Kathy Ross is a candidate for the Horsham North Ward in the council elections
Everyone has a past including a working life which is part of what makes a person who they are today.
Whilst my past working life has been private, nominating for Council has required sharing what past experience I have had so the community can see and understand why I could be capable of making decisions for our Council.
I have had varied experiences working in state government including the Premier's Department, Police and Emergency Services and Parliament House; sections including working in Labor, Liberal and National Party rooms, policy development and research, publicity - working with major media outlets, reforms for emergency services, and other areas. I have worked in a major department store and smaller retail outlets.
I perform administration for our family farming business including research, bookwork and banking etc. I have worked in local government being the Horsham City Council years ago. I have taught at TAFE teaching office administrative skills.
My voluntary work has involved being on my local School Council, a Women's Working Party group, Landcare, the federal Working Party on Aged Care Reforms, the state Stakeholder Group on Mining Reforms - still ongoing, helping people navigate and access government regarding their concerns etc.
This is a good part of my past experiences, but there would be more that haven't come to mind. Utilising my past experiences and skills, my hope is to contribute, if elected, with other elected nominees to bring our Council area into a more contented and connected community where we can all work together.
